50 contenders slug it out in our annual mega test for a sport in our Top 10, to be crowned the ‘Best of 2019’.
For our annual Indian mega track test, we assembled all the new cars to have been launched in 2019 at the Buddh International Circuit. We tested all of the new affordable cars ranging from the new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Renault Triber, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Toyota Glanza as well as the all-important new Maruti Suzuki WagonR.
We also tested the entire list of hot new SUVs from the compact Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue to the Nissan Kicks, Tata harrier MG Hector, Mahindra Alturas, Jeep Compass Trailhawk and the Kia Seltos. Speaking of SUVs, we also tested India’s first fully-electric SUV, the Hyundai Kona. There were quite a few luxury SUVs on test too for our Best of 2019 jury rounds, these included the new 2.0-litre petrol Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Velar, BMW X4, BMW X5 and the rather sporty Porsche Macan.
In contrast, there were just a few luxury sedans on test this year, from the new BMW 3 Series to the Toyota Camry to the Mercedes-Benz CLS.
Maruti meanwhile expanded its model line-up with the launch of the re-badged XL-6 MPV while they also brought in a brand new diesel engine into the market which made its debut in the Ciaz. Both these cars were a part of our Mega Test as the XL-6 was here to represent itself and the second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
The eye candy at our annual Mega Test this year around would have to be the drop-top Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet and the savage Lamborghini Huracan Evo that set the BIC on fire!
