The drama of a typical American. It might be you - it might be me. He dreams of glory, he lives in hope, he loves and doubts and only providence puts a final value on his service to humanity. The story starts before the war, when life was normal. Shortages were generally unknown and simple luxuries were abundant.
It's a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American Christmas fantasy drama film produced and directed by Frank Capra, based on the short story and booklet The Greatest Gift, which Philip Van Doren Stern wrote in 1939 and published privately in 1943. The film is one of the most beloved in American cinema, and has become traditional viewing during the Christmas season.
Though their collective filmographies consist of a couple hundred movies, Capra, Reed, and Stewart have all cited It’s a Wonderful Life as their favorite movie. In his autobiography, The Name Above the Title, Capra took that praise even one step further, writing: “I thought it was the greatest film I ever made. Better yet, I thought it was the greatest film anybody ever made.”
I moved the intermissions to the end and cleaned up the audio. It is muffled in a few spots, just nothing else there to clean up.
Lux Radio Theatre was indisputably the biggest, most important, most expensive drama anthology program on radio. It ran from October 14, 1934 until June 7, 1955, then continued on television as Lux Video Theatre until 1957. In all, some 926 episodes were broadcast, providing a record of the most important entertainment events in American theatre and, later, film. When broadcast on the Arms Forces Radio Services in the early 1950s, the show was re-titled Hollywood Radio Theatre and hosted by Don Wilson.
