Phoenix Chorale - Lux Aeterna October 18-20, 2019
Description
Remembering those who have gone before us is a common human need. Whether reflecting on a long life, well-lived, or mourning a life taken before its time, we seek to honor and commemorate our family, friends, and those we admire. Many are sustained, in the midst of sorrow, by the belief that this life is not the end—that, at last, we will enjoy eternal rest, where Lux Aeterna, perpetual light, will shine upon us.
In the 100th anniversary year of the Treaty of Versailles, this program reflects on themes of memory and loss, including music setting poetry by some of the great war poets of WWI. The program also showcases Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, one of the most famous settings from the Catholic Requiem Mass and perhaps Fauré’s most enduring work, and featuring soloists from the Phoenix Boys Choir.
